TESP - an Alternative Sentencing Program
that Utilized the Transcendental Stress Management
 Program for Offender Rehabilitation

Experiences of Graduates of TESP

Probationers reported a number of benefits once they learned the Transcendental Stress Management (TSM)  program: a decrease or cessation in substance abuse, improved health, reductions in hypertension, better sleep and less visits to the doctor.  They also reported a sense of well-being and confidence, a feeling of calm in situations that previously evoked aggressive behavior, and an all-round improvement in relationships, greater success on the job and more peace in the household.

They cooperated with their probation and parole officer and felt more attracted to educational pursuits.  The positive effects of the TSM program remained with the probationers for varying periods during the day.  They became self-sufficient in their ability to effectively deal with stress and stressful situations in their lives.  As a result, participating offenders were able to reintegrate more smoothly into society and community life afterwards.

Course completion essays from graduates of
The Enlightened Sentencing Project (identities protected) are carried here as anecdotal evidence of the benefits of the TESP. It was a highly effective alternative sentencing program.

Some essays are available for each year and they are the words of the probationers.  Click on the year below to read some of the inspiring and life-changing benefits enjoyed by the probationers and parolees who went through our program.
