"The TSM classes have helped me overcome my fears and stress because when I started I had a lot of it stored in my body.  With TSM. my relationship with loved ones and family members is awesome.  I can talk to them about anything.  There’s no hiding anything from them. I was never a social person.  TSM has helped me to communicate with people.  I have so much confidence now I can talk to anybody – even with the President – if they listen…

 I was locked up for two years.  I have been shot in the thigh with the bullet coming out through my foot.  I have shot at people – but I don’t know if I hit anybody.  I have been doing and selling drugs.  I was so stressed I took all kinds of drugs.  I am 22 years old.  It is very difficult to change this lifestyle which started from the age of 13.  But TSM has changed me completely.

TSM has helped me to be drug-free and stay drug-free.  I have no need for drugs now.  I an no longer tempted by them.  I do not want to have anything to do with drugs.  I do not want to be around people who do drugs or sell them.  I feel like a different person now and want to continue to remain that way.  I will keep on meditating…

 I wish a program like Enlightened Sentencing had been around in the 80’s.  One of my cousins was shot by a cop and another cousin is still in jail.  With TSM and a little bit of guidance, they could have been saved. I want to thank Judge Mason and my probation officer for putting me in classes so I could find my inner self and change my life.

"I would like to thank Judge Heagney for sending me to TSM.  Just as he gave me a probation he could have sent me to jail.  I would like to truly thank him for not sending me to jail.

I would also like to thank my probation officer Miss Morgan.  She has been very understanding and helpful.  It truly shows that she practices TSM herself.  She may not know this but some of the talks we have had has helped me out a whole lot.

TSM has had a major effect on my life.  It is like I am a totally new person.  Before TSM I smoked weed as an answer to all of my problems.  TSM has helped me to stop smoking and it gives me a way to relieve stress.  I used to be stressed out on a daily basis.  Since TSM I am less likely to become stressed out.  TSM makes me very calm.  This state of calmness clears my mind and makes it easier for me to think.  Since I started TSM I make decisions quicker and easier.

My friends and family have noticed the difference in me.  I don’t smoke anymore and I am less likely to get an attitude with them.  I would argue with them over simple things.  My mother asked me what happened to her son.  I told her that he grew up.  Since TSM, me and my mother are able to sit down and talk without me getting an attitude with her.

Without TSM I do not know what my life would be like.

"At first I was skeptical about TSM because it was forced on me as a requirement of my probation sentencing.  However, I gave it a real shot and I want to thank God that I did.  Little did I know that I was in for a big shock!  TSM opened my life to a whole new world.  TSM is great!  I wish I had TSM in my life years ago.  My self-esteem has risen, and I’ve learned to love myself for me.  I’m more focused without worry, my blood pressure has gone down.  I put forth more thought before making a decision or taking action, and my mind is more at ease.

Even though I’m taking depression medication, I think TSM has a lot to do with me being more relaxed, less sad and less depressed.  As for my family, they are very proud of the changes in me.  My baby girl Sheena is extremely happy with the changes I’ve made.  She said that she’s glad that I practice TSM because now she has the Mom she always dreamed of.  She said that she can now call her mother and not get her head chewed off.  She now calls my name several times a day just to tell me she loves me.

So not only is my eyesight brighter every time I come out of my meditation, but each and every day is a bright day because my kids smile at me, say how proud they are of me, and how much they love me.  As you can see, TSM is a unique and important aspect in my life.

"The Transcendental Stress Management program is a great practice to help relieve inner stress, heal and strengthen the body.  I would like to say at first I was very skeptical to try meditating.  I honestly believed at first that TSM was some sort of brainwashing or hypnotizing act.  Even after being thoroughly explained to, in orientation, what TSM really was and what it can do for you.  Don’t get me wrong, I started meditating the first day I was told to, but in the back of my mind I wondered “will I like this” and “will this work for me?”  Sure enough, as time went on, I could notice changes in my mind and body.  Also, the questions and wandering thoughts I had went away.  This happened as I became more knowledgeable through class and see other people thoughts and experiences and I finally started believing 100% in the TSM technique. 

The first way that I saw how TSM was benefiting me was in how it affected my mind.  I noticed that after I started meditating I started to see things more clearer.  When someone would say or try to tell me something I was not only seeing what they meant but I also started to factor in where there were coming from and where they were going to trying to get me to understand.  It came to me more quicker than usual, instead of my mind wandering until I figured it out later or completely blocked it out.  Also, at home when I set a goal I was more focused to not skip steps and reach my goals.  One example is my goal to stop smoking cigarettes.  I figured from experience that it was much harder to try to quit (all at once), cold turkey.  So, I condition myself to subtract smoking five cigarettes a day until I was down to five a day.  Then I subtracted one a day until I smoke only three a day. I went from a pack and a half a day down to three a day in two weeks.  Finally, I condition myself to not buy any more cigarettes and just smoke one a day from a friend if I needed it until I quit.

Now the change in my body was that since I quit smoking I now have my wind back to run up and down the basketball court.  Also, with doing the asanas I get the stretching my muscles need through the week to stop me from getting injured.  I play about for or five times a week, but since getting out of high school and college I got away from the stretching that was done in gym or pre-practice.  Now I have started back and found my muscles are more relaxed doing games and not so sore afterwards.

After noticing all of this I still wasn’t 100% sold on the TSM techniques.  I knew it was helping me but I only meditated out of class when I felt like it.  However, when my mother complimented me on my different behavior I felt like TSM isn’t helping me but it is changing me and that I needed to do this twice a day no matter what.  She told me that I had a different attitude as if I was extremely happy.  I am a very quiet person even around family, but she noticed that I wanted to talk about everything as if I was running out of time on a stopwatch.  So, after all of this, I felt I need to use TSM the rest of my life and definitely recommend it to others.

I would like to thank Judge Heagney for giving me the option of taking TSM.  These classes were a good idea and it has helped me out a lot, help I wouldn’t have received without Judge Heagney’s knowledge of the TSM program.

"Over time I started noticing a change in my behavior.  I stopped arguing with my fiancée, I had more patience to sit down with my son, and my attitude was always positive at work.  The meditating that I do for 20 minutes 2 times per day really keeps my mind relaxed.  Now that I’m meditating every day my choices and decisions are more right and positive.  I don’t associate with my past friends because there’s too much negative things that can get me in trouble and now I have a family to look after.

"When I was told that I had to attend TSM I thought that it was just another way to occupy my time.  After attending the course I realized that was not the case.  It not only helps me to relax, but to relieve all stress from a rough day at work.  Before I would easily blow up and lose my temper, now I can just let it roll off my shoulders.

The things that my son would do at times to make me mad, does not bother me near as much.  I have learned to deal with it so much better.  Now, I just step back and meditate for a few minutes and take a calmer approach to handling the situation.  I have learned not to let the minor things in life overcome me and I appreciate every day.

I used to get angry at work if things did not go right.  Now when things do not go my way or somebody says something to make me mad, I just step back and laugh.  My girlfriend says that I seem to be happier than I used to be.

TSM helped me to see people and things in a whole new outlook.  It really does work.  I want to thank Judge Heagney and Farrokh for giving me the opportunity to take the course.  I would really recommend this class to everyone.  It will give you an opportunity to learn a great deal about yourself.

"Before I started the class I used to get angry with people for no reason at all and over little things that really didn’t matter.  Now as I attend the TSM class every day, my anger don’t even bother me any more.  My blood pressure is at a normal level and I have been sleeping at night.  I even cope with things better at work than I did before.  My supervisor says she is really impressed with the new attitude change in me.

"I am a 28-year old man who has had multiple brain surgeries.  I suffer from epilepsy due to a boating accident I was in.  I take a large amount of medicine due to my condition, and because of this, I’m very tired all the time.  This is why TSM is beneficial to me.  After I meditate I have all this energy that I wouldn’t otherwise have.  This energy stays with me through the remainder of the day.

After four brain surgeries I haven’t been able to sleep too well.  When I do my two TSMs regularly I sleep like a baby.

"My blood pressure has been a problem for the last 5 years.  With that problem, it was very easy for me to snap.  A lot of times I would snap and it was not really necessary – when your pressure is high you’ll snap and don’t think first.  At times I felt that this was the beginning of the end.

Since I’ve been in this program I have not seen the doctor.  I have not even thought of going to the doctor because I do not have the problem with my blood pressure anymore. 

The other day I took my daughter to the doctor.  They gave her a physical, and I asked the nurse to check my blood pressure and it was still normal.

"Thank you for allowing me the chance to improve myself and ready myself for some of the stresses in my day to day life.  I meditate twice a day for 20 minutes.  When I do it in the morning it seems like it gives me energy and peace.  It makes my day outstanding.  When I get in a hurry and miss my morning meditation, I beat up on myself and it seems the peace is missing. Both TSM and the yoga exercises have helped me enormously. 

TSM is an excellent program.  Keep sending people to it; some will not apply it to their lives, but people like me will.  I want everyone in the world to practice TSM.  I’m trying to get my mother and my two girls into it.

"I’m 43 years old.  I’m a divorced man with three children and a two-year old grandson.  When I started this program I was real skeptical about the effects of meditation and if it would ever help me or not.  After doing TSM for about a month I started feeling more energetic and alive.  My daughter one day asked me if I was doing something different in my life because I seemed more happier with myself and wasn’t so tired-looking all the time.  I told her the stress I feel from everyday living is so much easier to handle after I meditate that I seem like a different person.  Me and my children are so much more happier with our relationships that I recommend TSM to everyone.  It has enabled use to communicate with each other so much better and form a real bond as father and sons and daughter.  I thank God for letting me have the courage to trust that TSM would make a difference.

"When I first walked into this class I thought you have to be kidding me, this is not for me.  Then after the first week I was sitting at home with my girlfriend when she started yelling about something really stupid.  On a normal state of mind I would have snapped and did something stupid, but instead TSM must have calmed me, and I noticed we talked the problem out.

TSM also has many other effects on your body that you really don’t notice until you sit down and think.  For instance, I used to stay up past 2.00 a.m. doing nothing, knowing work is in the morning.  Now I find myself asleep before midnight and fully rested for work.

The main thing about TSM is with only two meditations a day my life is much easier to not think about drugs or crime.  I recommend this class to anyone looking for an easier life.

"I’m giving you a thousand thanks for giving me the chance to learn this technique cause before I learned it I was going down the wrong road.  My mother and I never got along, we always argued.  I wasn’t sleeping well and had a bad temper and I was drinking and smoking.  But now that I’ve learned the technique, things have been going well.  I’m more alert.  I’m thinking clearly and my relationship with my Mom has developed [into] a strong bond, and I’m getting more sleep.  My boss could see the difference and he asked me what it was I was doing and I told him about the meditation and now he’s thinking about joining the classes. 

P.S.  I think this technique is good for teenagers my age.  Maybe if they can learn the technique it could help them like it helped me.  Thank you again.

Transcendental Stress Management (TSM) program - “The Wonder Drug”   

"I am thoroughly convinced that the TSM practice works. TSM has helped me in a number of ways.  For example, I was scheduled to have a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Test at the Veteran Affairs (VA) Hospital and the technician was getting frustrated with me because I kept moving once they began the test.  I started hyperventilating because I suffer from claustrophobia.  I really didn’t know what to do because the test was to last 45 minutes and I couldn’t relax long enough to complete the test.  So I began to meditate and before long the technician said the test was complete.  He asked me what I did to help me calm down and I told him I meditated.  He looked at me a little crazy, but I didn’t care because I made it through the test.     

Thank you Judge Heagney.  I am now armed with a new weapon that will help me through any situation.  I do recommend that you send as many people through this course as possible because it would definitely make their life better.

"My relationships with my peers and those I love have consistently improved.  I have been feeling better and better about myself every day.  I think I have even been health-wise, I mean, feeling better as well.  My sleep has been better, so I wake up feeling better.  I never had problems focusing, however, maybe my focus has improved as well.  Since I began meditation, my life is very peaceful.  Things that used to upset me don’t matter anymore.  Meditation is an important part of my day.

"Sir, I really appreciate you sending me to TSM classes because TSM has changed me a lot.  It has changed my attitude.  My Mom too thinks there is a difference in me after the TSM class.  She has noticed a lot of happiness in me because I have a smile on my face.  My Mom says I look as though I’d won a lottery!

Before TSM I could not sleep well at all.  Now I get real good sleep.  I’ve also been smoking a lot less – from one and a half packs in one and a half days to just two or three cigarettes a day.

TSM has helped me to hold my temper and get along better with people.  I didn’t like being around a lot of people.  Now I have no problem being around a lot of people.  I can converse with anyone or even a group of people.

 I enjoy the yoga exercises because they are perfect for my health.  After doing the yoga exercises I feel like a new man.  I think the breathing and yoga exercises have made my breath softer.  I used to breathe real heavy.  I am going to teach the yoga exercises to my family members and friends!  I am also going to make sure to tell my friends and relatives about TSM because it would help them.
